  • Donald Rosamond, age and address unavailable, grimaces as he is moved to a waiting ambulance after the jaws of life were used to extricate him from his overturned Toyota Tacoma following a two-car accident in Jackson on Wednesday afternoon. According to Jackson Police Officer Barry Hale, Rosamond's Tacoma was turning from west-bound Lakeland Drive onto south-bound Ridgewood Road when it was hit broadside by a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Christopher C. Roberts, age and address unavailable, causing the Tacoma to roll onto its side. Jackson firefighters used the Jaws Of Life to extricate Rosamond, who was then transported to Central Mississippi Medical Center. Hale said. According to Hale, Tina Little, age and address unavailable, an occupant of the Cheverolet, was transported to St. Dominic Hospital. Two other occupants in the Chevrolet were apparently uninjured, Hale said.

The group of over 100 resdients and staff from the Meadow Crest Living Center in Gretna, La had been housed at the camp since fleeing from Hurricane Katrina on Sunday and had been without power there since Monday. Soaring temperatues took their toll on the group, claiming the life of one person and leaving several others in poor conditon. Several of the most severe cases were transported by ambulance to area hospitals while the remainder were transported to the Trademart.

According to Hinds County Sheriff Malcolm McMillin, two men, one brandishing a weapon, entered the bank shortly before 10am and demanded money from a teller. McMillin says that the teller informed them that the money was elsewhere in the building then dropped to the floor. The two suspects then fled the scene in the Thunderbird, but ditched the vehicle a couple miles away on Terry Road, probably getting into another car, McMillin said. The suspects are still at-large.

    Two unidientified people comfort one another just outside the an office complex at the corner of Northpark Drive and Towne Center Boulevard in Ridgeland following a fatal shooting on Friday. According to Ridgeland Police, a Pearl man shot his estranged wife then turned the gun on himself outside ExamOne, where the woman worked as a manager. The man was pronouned dead on the scene, while the woman was transpored to UMC where she later died.

    A Jackson firefighter (center) is treated for apparent dehydration at the scene of a south Jackson house fire on Tuesday, according to JFD District Chief Patrick Armon. He was later transported to an area hospital for additional treatment but is expected to make a full recovery, Chief Armon said. There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

    Two women sit on the back of a Toyota 4Runner that overturned when it collided with a Nissan Altima (foreground) at the intersection of U.S. 51 and Cobblestone Drive in Madison just after 10 p.m. on Tuesday. According to Master Sgt. Robbie Sanders of the Madison Police Department, the black Altima was turning south from Cobblestone Drive onto U.S. 51 when it struck the green 4Runner that was headed north on U.S. 51 causing the 4Runner to roll over onto its roof. The two drivers complained of pain, but neither was transported to the hospital for treatment, Sanders said. The cause remains under investigation, including reports of a power outage in the area about the same time that may have affected the traffic signal at the intersection, Sanders added.
